Classic Pitching – Still Viable in MLB The Show 25?
Okay, hear me out—Classic Pitching might be the most underrated option in MLB The Show 25, especially if you're going for mlb 25 stubsa more sim-heavy or managerial approach.
For those who haven’t tried it, Classic Pitching is the most stripped-down method. You pick a pitch, aim your location, and hit a button. That’s it. No meters, no flicking sticks, no timing pulses. It sounds too simple, but in the right context, it works really well.
I use it a lot in Franchise mode, especially when I’m managing multiple games a day and don’t want to spend extra time dealing with Pinpoint mechanics. It makes the game feel more like you're the coach giving signs, rather than being on the mound yourself.
You do lose some control, no doubt. Pitch accuracy depends heavily on your pitcher’s ratings—so a low-control pitcher will miss spots more often. But that also adds to the realism. Not every hurler in the majors can paint the black. It forces you to think strategically, avoid bad matchups, and pull guys early if they’re getting wild.
I wouldn’t recommend it for online or competitive play, but if you're someone who values realism and pacing in Franchise or Road to the Show, Classic Pitching can absolutely hold its own.
Anyone else use Classic regularly? Or am I the last one left?
