We introduced these wines to celebrate our Sonoma roots. This series showcases varietals from the best growing regions in Sonoma County. We sought out multi-generation family growers who are liked-minded and align with our same respect for the land.

Our parents were busy raising seven children and farming our seven vineyard ranches. This collection honors their hard work and the diverse terroirs of each ranch that influence the wines. These are meant to be paired with food, family and friends.

Cline Cellars is a producer based in the Carneros region of California. It is particularly known for its wines made of Zinfandel as well as a selections of the Rhône varieties Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache.

When selecting fruit for Lodi Zinfandel, Cline focus primarily on harmony, early drinkability and elegant structure. This vintage draws from 14 superb Zinfandel vineyards in the legendary area of Lodi where warm days and cool nights have ripened grapes to perfection for over 100 years. The grapes were de-stemmed and lightly crushed to preserve fruit and limit harsh tannin extraction. A moderately warm fermentation in closed stainless steel tanks using specific wine yeast came next. Once desired tannin levels were achieved, the wine was racked two or even three times before aging in wood for eight month. This achieves early elegance without sacrificing bright fruit. They used 35% new French oak with a medium toast level, which contributes a delicate toasty vanilla character to the wine without masking the abundant fruit.

Cline Cellars is a family-owned vineyard and winery in Sonoma's Carneros Valley. Established in 1982 by Fred Cline, a descendant of Italian US settlers, he originally founded the winery in Oakley, Contra Costa County, cultivating Rhone varieties and Zinfandel on vines dating back to 1906. In the 1990s, the family moved their winemaking operation to a 350 acre ranch in Carneros Valley, adopting sustainable farming in 2000, and building the largest solar panelled winery in California. While others in California were focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, Fred Cline saw the potential of Rhone varieties and Zinfandel in his vineyards and continues to produce focussed, terroir-driven wines.

Distinct and luscious. Flavours of dark plum and chocolate leads to a medley of integrated oak spice and a smooth and juicy finish. A blockbuster of a wine that has plenty of earthy soul and character.

The Ancient Vines Mourvèdre draws from some of our oldest, most historic and shyest-bearing vineyards. These blocks produce fruit of stunning concentration as a result of sensitive farming practices, the singular Oakley terroir, and an unique cooling band of air that flows in from the San Joaquin and Sacramento Rivers. By naturally restricting yields to only 2 to 3 tonnes per acre, we achieve a sublime expression of the Mourvèdre fruit. These grapes hold characteristics of dark, dusty berry fruit that makes their Ancient Vines Mourvèdre so lustrous. Individual lots of grapes were harvested separately according to ripeness and balance of acidity. Grapes undergo total de-stemming and a very gentle crushing to ensure a large proportion of whole berries in the must. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks with select cultured yeasts. It was then maintained at the ideal temperature to aid in the extraction of flavor and colour. The wine was pressed off its skins at dryness before being racked to dark toasted American Oak (approximately 30% new) where it was gently aged for 10 months and then stored in neutral cooperage.

This scrumptious and unusually delightful wine goes exceptionally well with grilled lamb or pork, sautéed asparagus and curried deviled eggs. Also fab with rack of lamb, duck confit are steak tartare.

Opening Jacuzzi Family Vineyards was a lifelong dream for me. It is my way of honoring my Italian heritage but also a way to pay homage to my grandfather, Valeriano Jacuzzi. It was his farm in the early 1970s where I learned to farm grapes and make wine. My passion grew and eventually propelled me to UC Davis where I graduated with a degree in Agricultural Management. It was there that I met my wife Nancy. We now have seven children and they along with me are carrying on the winemaking traditions of my grandfather.

Jacuzzi Family Vineyards Winemaker Tom Gendall was born in Christchurch, New Zealand and worked for notable wineries before moving to California in 2011. In 2016, Tom joined Jacuzzi as Assistant Winemaker and became Head Winemaker in 2019. Tom brings a wonderful new energy to our team, and is excited to show off the unique, heritage, Italian varieties that Jacuzzi has to offer. Tom believes that "if you look after the vines, the vines will look after you and produce great fruit. They will tell you what they need if you know where to look and what to look for. It's our job to interpret that information and make sure the wines achieve their very best potential.

Valeriano and his wife, Giuseppina, arrived in California from Italy in 1921. Soon after their arrival, Valeriano joined his brothers at their Jacuzzi Brothers Inc factory and later purchased a 161-acre farm in Contra Costa County. During the depression, he along with his older children, planted of portion of their farm fields to grapes and in 1936 applied for a license to make wine for home consumption. At that time he was limited to 200 gallons.

Home to a diverse array of smaller AVAs with varied microclimates and soil types, Sonoma County has something for every wine lover. Physically twice as large as Napa Valley, the region only produces about half the amount of wine but boasts both tremendous quality and variety. With its laid-back atmosphere and down-to-earth attitude, the wineries of Sonoma are appreciated by wine tourists for their friendliness and approachability.

Fred grew up farming with his father and founded the winery in the early 1980s, focusing on Rhône varieties. Though best known for its juicy, jammy Old Vine Zinfandel, Cline Vineyards now offers a natural, Farmhouse line of wines and is experimenting with amphorae aging.

Another reason for excellent Zinfandel in Lodi is because of the unique terroir. Many Old Vine Zinfandel vineyards in Lodi feature un-grafted, un-trellised vines, which can give more concentrated wine.

This east-of-Healdsburg winery offers a tremendous tasting bang for the buck, or less. The Estate Tasting is free. Tours of the 25,000-square-foot underground cave are free. A sampling of Reserve-tier wines is just $20, and the cost is refunded if you buy one of those wines. Who does this? A winery that was among those that poured complimentary samples decades ago and sees value in continuing to do so.

Four of them are served at the Estate Tasting Experience, a fine value at $15. So is the $20 Reserve Tasting Experience of five wines, including block and vineyard designates. Across the board, the wines are excellent and fairly priced, from $20 to $48.

The Clines tapped these vines for their wines and 1989 moved their business to southern Sonoma Valley/Carneros, where they planted chardonnay, viognier, pinot noir and syrah and opened a tasting room in a 1850s farmhouse.
